Four year old kindergarten

Since 2007 Delavan Nursery Center has offered an enriched program to the early learner. While maintaining our devotion to child-centered play, in the 4 year old Kindergarten, we introduce some age appropriate academic material into the children's play time. The curriculum for this program follows the same learning criteria that is followed by local school districts.
In the life of the 3 and 4 year old, each day
is an adventure! We guide each student in our care with some structure in order to facilitate learning.  The daily schedule includes:

Playtime: child-selected free play

Circle time: songs and games teaching days of the week, numbers, counting, ABC's and the weather

Writing name and letter of the week

Center games and activities focusing on learning reading, writing and math.

Creative art is a time when children are guided through 2 and 3 dimensional art activities

Read aloud that includes book talk

Music movement and pretend play

Of course, you the parent are the best judge of what is right for your child and your family. That is why we offer classes two, three, four or five days a week. There is also a wrap-around program called Kids Club that can start as early as 8:00 and go until 3:30. This, too, includes rests, and snacks that help your child enjoy the day without getting too overwhelmed.

In the nice weather, we play outside on a playground. In the not-so-nice weather, we have the opportunity to use the gym at St. Andrews for active,
age-appropriate games. You are welcome anytime to talk with our teachers or to just observe a class. Call Sue Lefel today to discuss the four year old kindergarten program at Delavan Nursery Center. Or you can email Sue at
